A River of Thousands of Years

This is an amazing place to wake up in. Our first group adventure was to visit the local market in a nearby town. The market boasts an incredible spread of local fruits, meats, vegetables, cheeses, wine, honeys, oils and other regional products. Farmer's Market, Southern France

From now through June 29th, 11 of the 19 visitors (mostly Bay Area residents) are singing during the week. The practice and study of Medieval (and some Renaissance) French music varies from 2-5 hours day. Peppered in are mini dance and Medieval food workshops. At the end of the week is a performance for the French locals of the music.
Since I am not singing, there is ample time to relax and enjoy the near constant bird sounds and tranquility. Here the psychic layers of daily life are stripped off in a way that just wouldn’t be possible at home; after a few hours, all my stresses were gone and I was alone with my core.

David and I are staying in a converted 13th century grain mill that sits right on the Lot River. Mill in La Toulzanie, Lot River, France We have a gorgeous view from upstairs and the mill room (basement) has a looking glass down into the stone seats where the the giant turbines that used to be used to grind grain used to be. It is a “fortress mill” that still has its original hearth and staircase and bears the mark of its creators, the Masons. La Toulzanie has been populated since the time of Cro-Magnin.
