Wave to Andorra

We took the scenic route through the French Pyrenees to get back to Barcelona today (instead of the coastal route through Perpignan). When we realized just what an effort it would be to pop into Andorra (after starting so late in the day once lunch was done) we regrettably decided to skip crossing the border into Andorra in order to arrive Barcelona at a sane hour. Our ventures took us past a strange French space center that we passed on the way in (no idea what it was- didn't write the name) and a French nuclear power plant suddenly appeared right in the middle of gorgeous valley.

We drove through two impressive, almost beautiful tunnels. Tunnel de Puymorens and the Tunnel de Vaci. Puymorens caused me to burst out in the Dr. Who theme song. David really enjoyed the infrastructure experience through the mountains. One final yummy French specialty that made itself known at lunch- radishes with butter on bread (a lunch and breakfast food)- weird but delicisss.

In the mountains, the city of Foix had people of darker skin and there were more young families and students around than in the Lot where the healthiest 70somethings were riding their bikes and farming to pass the daily hours.
